finally, when Vizzini wasn’t looking, Fezzik slipped their captive a green apple;
technically, that wasn’t going against orders. the princess would need her
strength, after all. ( for however many more days she’d be alive— two? three,
maybe? ) either way, Fezzik reckoned Vizzini had just forgotten about food.
naturally, his genius brain was consumed with higher, less practical thoughts. ’ eat this, ’ he muttered, thrusting the piece of fruit toward her.

a certain silence found her among the group of three until she spoke up, feisty when
need be, but valuing her life enough not to die yet. though, there really wasn’t much
she could do or say to them at the moment. they all seemed like a group of misfits,
people she might have even liked had she known them otherwise, but that gave no
excuse to what they’d done. it was mere observation. but all the same the small
allowance the giant gave her was comforting.
watching the two carefully while her bound hands allowed her fingers to dig into
the apple and raise it to her mouth, pulling the piece out toward her so she
wouldn’t bite in and give a crunch that would alert his comrades. 'thank you,’ she
mouthed and repeated her action with a very slight smile of gratitude. taking the
apple, the almost princess, almost queen, nodded and watched the other
